Often times a patient will come into the office and ask about different nutrients, supplements and herbal products. Collodial Silver is one such item.

First question to ask is: What is a collodial?

Answer: A collodial is a particle suspended in a solution. Usually the solution is either a gas or a fluid.

So, colloidal silver is comprised of silver particles suspended in a solution, water.

What do we know about silver? We know that it tarnishes. The silver and the oxygen in the air react to each other and oxidize, leaving a tarnish.

That is what free radicals do in our body. That is why we eat vegetables, fruits and supplements that are full of Anti-oxidants. The anti-oxidants attach to the free radicals and neutralize them.

collodial silver

So why are people taking Colloidal Silver? Beats me. I can not think of a reasonable answer.

Now, in the old days of the Wild West, and even today in many other countries, topical ointments have silver nitrate or zinc nitrate as an ingredient . It is used as an ingredient to promote healing of a wound. That will work. The silver will oxidize, eating up all the oxygen locally. There will be no oxygen for germs or bacteria to grow on, and thus, no infection. The body can repair tissue and not expend energy fighting off infection.

Today there was another food recall, hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP). A powder distributed by Basic Food Flavors, Inc. There is a concern that it may be contamination with Salmonella.

What is hydrolyzed vegetable protein? They call it a “flavor enhancer.” It is only used to enhance the flavor of foods. When protein breaks down, it breaks down into amino acids. One being glutamic acid. Glutamic acid will bind with sodium (salt) that might occur naturally in the food or also added, and forms monosodium glutamate (MSG).
It comes with all the problems that we know MSG to bring. Manufactures do not have to list MSG as an ingredient.

People who are on wheat-free diets also need to be careful, as many HVPs are derived from wheat.

herbs are quite gentle on the system. The over-the-counter psudo-ephedra cold medications are 15 times more potent than the herb. When used properly, the absence of side effects cannot be overstated. Because of their purity and gentleness the effects gained are prolonged and stable.

TGA/GMP

Oriental Medical Arts only uses TGA (formerly known as GMP) certified herbal products. Twenty-five years ago, Singapore, Australia, and Taiwan became suspicious of Chinese manufacturing standards. They set up an agency (TGA/GMP) to inspect Chinese herbal manufacturing plants. They also build their own factories in China. In order to import herbs into their countries, they must have the TGA stamp of approval

The acupuncturist uses very thin, hair like needles which are inserted at specific points on the body.

One Western explanation for how acupuncture works is that the needle acts as an irritant and stimulates an immune response. Though this is clearly part of the answer, it is not the entire picture. Many studies have demonstrated that the quality of acupuncture results are point specific. Just eliciting an immune response on random locations may have some benefit, but it does not produce the great results that we see when it is properly administered.

The first acupuncture needles used were actually made of stone. Today the needles are made of stainless steel, used once, and disposed of.

One of the amazing beauties of oriental medicine is its simplicity. A subtle shift, the body begins to heal. Patients just start feeling a little better, and a little better and a little better. Then they’re not sure that they were ever really sick.

Many times, people forget why they originally came in. I have to keep copious notes to remind them.

Sometimes, it gets a bit crazy and I have to say something like: “Yea, but if you never came in, you’d be really sick right now!”

For me, this is so much better than making up excuses as to why they haven’t gotten better yet.

It doesn’t always go this well. But, it sure does a lot of the time.

I didn’t invent this medicine. I didn’t perfect any aspect of it. I just studied it. At best am a mediocre practioner. This medicine is so great that even the mediocre can achieve stellar results.

Oriental Medicine has been used for centuries to enhance circulation and bring needed nutrients to the outer layers of the skin. It reverses the signs of aging from sun damage, environmental toxins, stress, and a life well lived. It increases elasticity and vitality.

The combination of acupuncture, moxibustion and herbal remedies produce stellar results. It does so without the use of harmful chemicals or intrusive surgeries. The lack of side effects cannot be overstated. Occasionally, one might experience a minor bruise.

Visit the Oriental Medical Arts website to see some results of facial rejuvenation using this process. You may also download a pdf entitled facial rejuvenation results which has images of the results of this process.

Skin is returned to its natural radiance. Healing the skin instead of assaulting it for temporary gains.
