Often times a patient will come into the office and ask about different nutrients, supplements and herbal products. Collodial Silver is one such item.
First question to ask is: What is a collodial?
Answer: A collodial is a particle suspended in a solution. Usually the solution is either a gas or a fluid.
So, colloidal silver is comprised of silver particles suspended in a solution, water.
What do we know about silver? We know that it tarnishes. The silver and the oxygen in the air react to each other and oxidize, leaving a tarnish.
That is what free radicals do in our body. That is why we eat vegetables, fruits and supplements that are full of Anti-oxidants. The anti-oxidants attach to the free radicals and neutralize them.
So why are people taking Colloidal Silver? Beats me. I can not think of a reasonable answer.
Now, in the old days of the Wild West, and even today in many other countries, topical ointments have silver nitrate or zinc nitrate as an ingredient . It is used as an ingredient to promote healing of a wound. That will work. The silver will oxidize, eating up all the oxygen locally. There will be no oxygen for germs or bacteria to grow on, and thus, no infection. The body can repair tissue and not expend energy fighting off infection.

My mom used this product for several years and her skin has become permanently discolored to a shade of blue.
There are two herbs that I am aware of that help take the stain out of skin. I’m not aware of anyone trying then on colodial silver stain. One is Safflower oil; the other is Zhen Zhu(Margarita) or pearl powder as it is known in English. You might try making a paste of the two and seeing what happens. Please let me know how it goes.
